What do I get when I join?
This is a question frequently asked during a membership drive/ fundraising campaign. In the Christian Education Network of the ELCA membership means partnership in ministry. It is the opportunity to contribute not only financially but personally. We are connecting people globally as they seek to implement the best teaching and learning practices in Christian Education. (go to www.faithfulteaching.org to learn more about membership in this unique community.)
How do we help?
Everyone has access to our Facebook page. Members have additional access to our closed Facebook group. Facebook has been a good way to get an immediate response to a question or idea. Our Facebook parties explore themes common to Christian Educators and have been the start of some wonderful friendships.
We cover 10 areas of interest in our mentor program. If you would like to work one on one with an experienced Christian educator once a week for six sessions, click on the mentor tab on the right side of the website for more information. The mentor program is a free offering for our members. Several of our members have become mentors and training for the program is provided.
You may find a CENetwork table or workshop at a local, synod, or national event. Our workshops have covered a wide variety of topics including how to promote multi-generational events; puppet ministry; safe church practices, and more.
What do we do with the money?
Your financial support for this ministry is used for technical and administrative support, and to develop new resources like our fall three-session online course for creating a safe church environment. Funds are used to host workshops and present at events, and allows the board to meet at the ELCA headquarters in Chicago once a year.
