Joining LACE
Lutheran Association of Christian Educators (LACE) offers memberships in two categories, individual and church, or group, memberships. We've tried to make the process of joining LACE as user friendly, simple, and as flexible as possible.
To Join as an Individual
- Create an account on this website: If you already have an account on this website please continue at Step 3 below. Otherwise, click here to create a new account on this website, then enter your preferred username, email address (twice), and password (twice) and then complete the membership questionaire. Notes:
- Your email address must be real and unique for members on this site (i.e., two LACE members may not share the same email address). The LACE organization, and this website, will use this email address to send you important information. Your email address will not be shared with other organizations or individuals.
- Enter your preferred username using proper capitalization. You may use upper and lowercase letters, periods, hyphens, and underscores. Spaces and numbers are allowed but not recommended. Your username will be used to identify you in your posts on the website. When signing in to the website you may use your username or email address.
- Since this is a professional organization we ask that your username actually identify you in a professional manner, e.g., if you name was "Ima Member" you might choose "I.Member," "Ima.Member," or "ImaMember." Names like "Sunday School Director" or "RedHotBlonde" are not appropriate.
- Confirm your email address:. After you've completed Step 1, the system will send you a confirmation email message with a special, one-time login link. Follow this link to confirm your email address and activate your account.
At this point your account is in a special pending purchase state. It does not have access to members only restricted content. - Purchase (pay for) your membership: You may pay for your membership online, using PayPal (PayPal membership is not required; you may use a major credit card), or by check/money order. This site uses a shopping cart model. Go to the Purchase Individual Membership page; add your desired membership type to your "cart" and proceed through checkout. Individual Memberships are $50/year; student/retired memberships are $25/year; Supporting (formerly Legacy) Memberships start at $150/year.
- If you paid via PayPal, your account will automatically be assigned the role of Active Member with an expiration date one year from the current date. If you indicated that you will be paying via check your account will assigned the role of Active Member, with an expiration date, after your payment has been received and processed at the LACE office.
To Join as a Group
Group Memberships allow registration of 4 or more members of the same organization at reduced prices. Aside from the reduced price there is no difference between an individual membership and a membership purchased as part of a group.
The process of registering group members differs a little than that of registering as an individual although it uses some common processes.
- The organization should designate someone to ask as the group administrator. This person will actually purchase the group membership and distribute membership information to the group's members.
- The group administrator should create an account on this site following steps 1 and 2, above, for individual memberships. The group administrator should not purchase any individual memberships at this time.
- While logged in using their own user account and without purchasing an individual membership, the group administrator should purchase one group membership selecting the number of accounts using the option field.. The system will automatically apply discounts according to the following schedule:
- Small Group (4 memberships): $180
- Additional memberships (for any size group beyond 4 members): $40/each
- While not absolutely necessary, the group administrator should place a note in the order comments indicating the name of the group.
- The group administrator will receive, via email, a message indicating successful processing of the order.
- Each member of the group, including the group administrator, should then follow the procedure listed above to register and purchase their membership. When presented with the payment page during checkout they should elect to pay by Check or money order and indicate the group to which they belong.
Note: At the current time, group memberships require manual processing by the LACE Coordinator. We are working to make this process more automated and will institute those procedures as soon as possible.
