2008 Educator of the Year: Teresa Kaldor

Teresa Kaldor, the Christian Education Team Leader at Calvary Lutheran Church in Solana Beach, California, has been selected as the 2008 Educator of the Year. The award will be presented to Teresa by the Lutheran Association of Christian Educators President Diane E. Shallue at the Youth Ministry Network Extravaganza in New Orleans on January 30.
Teresa was chosen for her active leadership in the field of Christian education. She began her work in Christian education by volunteering to help with Vacation Bible School when her son was four. Eventually, she became the Christian Education Director at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Indianapolis before moving to California. In her current congregation, she also serves on the Protection of Minors Committee (which designs and promotes safety protocol and training), the Vision Team (which is bringing a more youth and family oriented vision to the entire church) and the Small Group Ministry subcommittee. She is passionate about helping families nurture their children's faith; cross-generational learning opportunities, and still loves working with Vacation Bible School.
Teresa has been a key leader in the Lutheran Association of Christian Educators as well. She served on the planning team which created the organization beginning in 2001, served as acting president for a year and then was elected president for two terms. Her five years of leadership in our organization provided a strong start to this growing.
