Rainbow
Dear God, You put these children and their families in our lives. Show us how to love them. Amen
We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19
I'D WRITE FOR YOU A RAINBOW
If I could, I’d write for you a rainbow
And splash it with all the colors of God
And hang it in the window of your being
So that each new God’s morning
Your eyes would open first to Hope and Promise.
If I could, I’d wipe away your tears
And hold you close forever in shalom
But God never promised
I could write a rainbow,
Never promised I could suffer for you,
Only promised I could love you
That I do.
From: Reaching for Rainbows by Ann Weems
Here we are, September and its new beginnings: A sense of autumn in the air after hot summer, first days of school, settling back into end of summer routines,, and a new year for Sunday morning adventures into learning Bible stories with the children and families many of us serve. New beginnings . . . new opportunities.
We want the best for the children. We want to be able to “write for them a rainbow.” We want them to be happy and excited and to know how much God loves each and every one of them; to protect them from the hurt and chaos of the world. But, all we can do is to love them. Love them because God first loved us.
Happy and blessed new beginnings..
